On ‘Choke’ and its aftermath…defending the 'immoral Glee''

After reading Rosenberg and Keith…

I first fell in love with Glee because it turned everything on its ear. It was quirky, and unusual, and put a unique spin on high school stereotypes. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been that show for quite a while now. I think it’s fallen victim to its own success. Yes, these are important life topics. No, Glee does not have to cover EVERY social issue to be considered a quality show!

Reading Alyssa Rosenberg’s article, I had to admit she made a very convincing case. I share almost every problem she has with the show – it does treat serious issues lightly, sometimes borderline cruelly, and it’s become ever more preachy and lazy. Still, I do not believe Glee is immoral and I continue to have hope for this show because:

Portraying loving lesbian and gay teenage couples is ground-breaking. It just is.
Exposing the hypocrisy and fleeting shelf life of high school popularity is empowering.
Showcasing talented performers in well-crafted musical numbers is entertaining.
Showing Chris Colfer dancing in gold pants is breath-taking XD

DEFINITELY not the boy next door…;)

Gosh, I’m totally exhausted after the weekend!! I was on puppy duty the whole weekend since my family was away and our 3-month-old border collie is like a hurricane and can under NO circumstances be left home alone…she’s adorable and all kinds of sweet but honestly, how many shoes can you chew on in one day? And how many holes in the backyard can you dig up? Answer: A LOT!! And seriously, she chews on anything within her reach - I swear, after that experience raising my own children one day will be a breeze;)

Anyways, unfortunately I didn’t have much time to write so ‘Odds’ will be a bit later this week but hopefully you’ll all like it - the plus of being a dog-sitter is it gave me plenty of crazy ideas;)
